Christmas decorations...

This week I have been planning for the big C... That's right... Christmas!
Here's a sample of the Christmas trees below. Also made stars, hearts and mini stockings.

Quite a simple process really but sometimes it's good to have someone tell you what to do!

1. Cut out the Christmas shape of your choice on card and using tailors chalk draw around your image on your chosen fabric (remember you will need two per decoration.)

2. Cut out your image from your fabric leaving a 1 cm gap around the image.

3. Get some wadding (to use as filling) and cut out a smaller version of your Christmassy shape. Also cut out a loop of ribbon to use as a hanger for your decoration.

4. Line up and make a sandwich with fabric either side and wadding in the middle. Make sure both pieces of fabric have the pretty side facing out!. Pin it! Pin ribbon loop into decoration at the top.

5. Sew together using the chalk outline as a guide. Try not to sew over wadding. Stop to tuck it in if it hangs over. You want to have it all enclosed when finished.

6. Last step- when all seen together, get some pinking shears and cut around the decoration (this is why you left a gap when cutting). Be careful not to cut ribbon off!

7. Step back and admire. Also feel free to add buttons, bows and bells!

Tip- if you are making anything with eyes (gingerbread man, father christmas etc) do a quick hand stitch before sewing together (after step 2).

Think that's covered all the steps.

Will try to add other pics of the others I've done!

Have fun!

xx
